Fuelled by adrenaline and the cheers (and jeers) of the crowd, competitors had to test their speed, balance and will, to attempt to grab the flag at the end of the mast. The format is simple: grab the flag and advance to the final round. It's not that easy though, the mast is greased up and very slippery. It’s a test of speed, skill and sheer determination open to anyone who is brave enough to take it on. St Andrews Harbour is home to an inshore fleet of fishing and sailing boats, in September a new kind of mast moved in, bringing with it a slippery challenge for those who dared.
